It feels really good getting back into beauty on here recently. I definitely lost my mojo with it for a while but I think I’ve realised why – I wasn’t always writing about things that I felt 100% passionate about. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love working with brands (especially beauty ones as who doesn’t love trying out new products?) but it sort of threw me off of my game having a sort of “waiting list” for products I needed to review. It meant that the products I’d personally be pining to put on my face weren’t the ones I was posting about. Not to mention, with my skin being so all over the place due to medication, it isn’t ideal to be switching my skincare constantly.
Talking about fabulous skincare I am currently pining after – I attended the launch party for Rare Beauty a couple of evenings ago. It was held in the most adorable little craft shop named “Craftisan” in Bristol and decorated pretty in pink!
There was fizz on arrival along with a personal greeting from Corinne. Aswell as the chance to browse and sample a few of the products on the website and try some yummy vegan food from The Spotless Leopard, it’s safe to say I felt thoroughly spoiled!
What I absolutely adore about Rare Beauty is that it not only offers something different but something inspiring too. Corinne is the founder, the beauty and the brains behind this one woman led company. After listening to her speech on the night, I can safely say I feel even more motivated to strive to be my own boss and challenge the way this man-led industry and world works.
Corinne shone with enthusiasm and passion when talking about the ethos and values behind the business. The main ones being that all brands sold on the Rare Beauty site would be woman-led, made with completely natural products and of course cruelty-free. She wants to give a platform and a communal home to incredible ranges with natural origins for us to treat ourselves with. No intimidating ingredients or patronising promises – just cold hard facts and beautifully natural benefits.
Although I could go on forever about the evening, I’d love to give a little spotlight to the samples we received in our lovely Rare Beauty tote bags on departure too.
The one that I was immediately drawn to was the Magical Tree Velvet Kiss Body Butter sample. It has the most gorgeous scent to it which immediately took me away to a relaxing spa. The notes of it are lavender, roman chamomile and sweet orange which means it does have a sweetness to it but subtle enough for all to enjoy. Having quite a thick consistency, I think it’d be perfect for people with skin on the dryer side for restoration and nourishment.
We also got a gorgeous bottle of the Mallow + White Cleansing Oil. I’ve been pretty obsessed with cleansing products recently as being a lazy makeup wipe girl for years, I’d never actually tried many alternatives. Oils can be intimidating sometimes for those of us with oily patches but as the product page states, oil dissolves oil (which helps with removing impurities and conditioning the skin). This is really refreshing with a cucumber-like scent and contains a mere 5 ingredients that are all natural oils.
Last but not least, a lovely little sample of the Freyaluna Seriously Soothing Salve. As displayed on the front, it contains calendula and sweet violet along with sesame oil and shea butter. Being a formula created specifically for those with dry skin, I’ve found this perfect to pop on targeted areas of my hands as I am definitely a person that washes their hands a lot! It really does sink into the skin nicely and provides next to no scent so is perfect for any sensitive skin.
So what are your thoughts on natural beauty products? Do you currently own any? If not, you need to get over to Rare Beauty, treat your skin and support some fabulous females!
