IT’S MY BIIIIRRRRTHDAY. I’m 22 today, honestly the number is freaking me out a little. Can’t I be 21 forever, please? Really not feeling 22. I’ve never really done one of these posts where I talk about how awesome I am but I mean what better day to do it on than your birthday? These “awesome things” aren’t necessarily achievements, some are. Some of them are just things I’m personally proud of or excited about. I’m not going to give a lot of background or information on them as it’s a pretty long list having 22 points but if there’s any you’d like me to elaborate on in a full post then please let me know.
Seeing as it’s my birthday, I’ll let you in on my plans for it too, you lucky people. My illness is usually quite bad in the mornings so It’ll just be me, Jake and my mum chilling out (and hopefully opening presents) until we go to The Florist for a late lunch with my brother. I am so super excited for it after the event I attended there. The cocktails look and taste exquisite and the nibbles I had were gorgeous too. I’m sure a full meal will be just as divine! I totally haven’t already picked exactly what I’m going to be eating… Jake and I have then planned to go to The Mall in the evening as I really want to treat myself to a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick. It’s been on my wishlist forever and I just thought – why the hell not?
I’m then having a small get together with a handful of my friends and family on the Saturday. I’ve been excited about this for ages because there’s nothing I love more than hosting parties and having a theme! The theme is Rock n Roll and I’ll more than likely whack the leather dress and fishnets out for it because hey, it’s me! After being unable to do anything on my last birthday and the health issues I’ve had over the past year, I think a small and sweet event is all I can handle. But anyway, there’ll be a little blog post on the party uploaded next week and for now, enjoy some awesome things about my life…
Singing infront of a crowd of over 500 people and in venues all over Bristol, Bath and a few in London.
Winning a competition to get my very own bath bomb design made by my favourite bath brand aswell as becoming an ambassador for them before that.
Having the courage to leave jobs and university because I wasn’t happy.
Taking part in a 10km sponsored walk and raising over £650 for Crohns and Colitis UK.
Getting and keeping my dog alive, safe and well for over 5 years.
Battling a lifelong autoimmune disease whilst still working my butt off as much as possible to make a career and future for myself.
Coming to terms with the fact I might have to have life-changing surgery very soon.
Making an entire denim jacket including patches and decor for my textiles GCSE (maybe I should start doing crafty fashion posts? lol).
Having the confidence to start up and stick with my blog.
Supporting and loving the same awesome guy for 4 and a half years and still going strong.
Speaking out about and raising awareness of my illness and my personal experience with it.
Visiting 7 different countries.
Being on the makeup application team for FUZE 2016 – a yearly music, dance and fashion event bringing in an annual audience of around 4,000 people.
Getting approached to produce a makeup tutorial video and some creative looks for an up and coming brand to promote their products.
Collecting over 100 skull related things.
Having over 17,500 views on my blog since going self-hosted 9 months ago with an audience from over 92 countries.
Passing my driving test after putting off learning for 2 years due to anxiety.
Rebuilding my own confidence after being bullied and belittled.
Winning the Theresa Clayton award in year 6 (I know this was literally 10 years ago in primary school but I’m still proud, go me, what a little nerd).
Pushing myself to go to my first blogging event not knowing anyone and now am invited and attend them all the time.
I’m quite honestly just proud of myself for making it through the past year without any significantly horrendous breakdowns. I can’t even begin to describe how difficult it’s been but here I am, adding another year to the calendar – a little wiser, a lot stronger and still smiling.
I challenge you, whoever you are to write a list of awesome things that you’ve done too! What’s the thing you’re the most proud of doing or achieving so far in your life?
‘Til Next Time,
