My 5 Favourite Photos Ever!

Group of people at wedding
Hey everyone!

I’ve found myself wanting to write a lot more lifestyle and personal posts recently so today I’m going to be showing you guys my 5 favourite photos. It was really hard to narrow it down to 5 but if I didn’t have a limited number this post would be too long to cope with. Most of them are at least a couple of years old as I’m definitely one for nostalgia. Here are my 5 favourite photos!

My 5 Favourite Photos

My Mum, My Brother and I At His Graduation

3 family members at graduation

It was really hard to pick a photo of us three as you can imagine there are quite a few at all stages of our lives. This was almost 4 years ago now at my brothers graduation, I picked this one because I remember it being such a happy day and it was so nice to all come together and celebrate Nicks hard work. It’s also mad to look back at him as a graduate now as he’s only gone up from there, now having a really great job in the field of his degree. I really appreciate that I was able to go, too as initially it was only 2 tickets per graduate but we managed to sneak some extra.

My Dad And I Riding His Motorbike

I’ve never been a major girly girl. My mum said she’d put me in pretty dresses as a toddler and within 5 minutes I’d be sat in a mud pool and she’d be devastated. I used to LOVE riding on my dads (and my stepdads) motorbike and I still occasionally get on the back of my dads now. I still want a kick ass motorbike of my own one day. I’m not sure how old I was here but look at my face!! I look so happy and I honestly remember the day so well, it’s such a lovely memory. There’s also one of my dad and I on my first day at school, that’s for sure another of my favourite photos.

Marika And I At Reading Festival 2016

2 female friends at festival in favourite photos

I have so, so, SO many photos of Marika and I showing the good, the bad, the drunk, the weird and extremely ugly versions of ourselves. Marika and I have been friends since we were about 12 and I couldn’t have asked for someone better to be my closest friend over the last 10 years. I could never imagine my life without her and I don’t ever want to! I have especially fond memories of Reading Festival for a number of reasons – it was shortly before I got ill so it was one of the most recent fun memories I have where I wasn’t bogged down with medical stuff, it was like a weekend long sleepover and I remember I hadn’t seen her much at all prior to it as we were both working full time and super busy so it was the absolute best to spend some real time together and properly catch up on everything going on whilst surrounding ourselves with one of our favourite things – live music!

My Grandparents, My Brother, My Cousins And I At My Mums Wedding

Group of people at wedding

I was 6 in this photo, of course I’m the blonde one. Although my grandparents didn’t pass until I was 13/14, we didn’t take many photos with them for some reason and I really regret it now. However, I’m sure this one would still be one of my favourites even if we did. Despite sulking in a corner during half the photos due to wanting my mums bouquet, I was definitely all smiles here. I was always a nannies girl, my grandparents lived next door to us and I spent a lot of my Summers off school helping my nan out in the garden and then the Winters wrapping her Christmas presents, eating her biscuits and writing her Christmas cards. It’s hard to believe she hasn’t been a part of a whole third of my life but I still miss her every day and hope she’s proud of me.

Jake, Nacho And I In My Living Room

Couple holding dog

How could I leave these two out? This isn’t my absolute favourite photo of Jake and I but it definitely represents our relationship well. Both of us laughing and Nacho going crazy. Jake came into my life a couple of months after Nacho did so they’ve had plenty of time to bond and Nacho will always fight her way onto the bed when Jake stays over as she still HAS to be included always. We love her, she’s like our little third wheel that doesn’t have a clue. This was before the re-opening of Las Iguanas which was a really lovely night, too.

There are many other photos that are my favourites with more of my favourite people in (so please don’t be sad if we’re friends and you’re not in them)! I highly expect I’ll be posting the rest at some point. For now, I hope you enjoyed having a bit of a nose at these! Do you think you could narrow down your 5 favourite photos?

  1. These photos are all so lovely! I hate how they always limit the tickets for graduation, there’s more than two people I wanted to bring along to mine so it sucks that you work so hard and then you’re limited to who you can celebrate with. I’m glad you got to sneak extra tickets and your outfit is super cute! I love the photos of you and your dad, you look so happy and I reckon a motorbike would suit you so well. You can tell from the photo of you and Marika just how much you’re enjoying yourself, I bet it was so nice to see each other after life being so hectic for a while beforehand. Your Nan would 1000% be so proud of you Al, you’ve achieved so many amazing things already. It’s nice that you have that photo with your grandparents as it’s something you can always cherish. I love how Nacho is such a third wheel, bless her – that photo is full of so much happiness and is super cute. I’m really tempted to do my own favourite five photos, such a nice idea for a post and gives you a bit of reflection on the good times x

Yeah it’s really crap, especially for people with bigger families! Thank you 😊 Me too but my parents and Jake are terrified of me having one… It really was! Other than a huge flare up of my eczema cos of the bloody grass, I remember the weekend so fondly. Aww thanks Al, I really do wonder!! You definitely should, I’d love to see yours!! X

This is such a lovely post, and really great to read. It amuses me how you used to love riding your dads motorbike, as when I was younger I refused to go on my Dads haha! I also never knew you only got two tickets for graduation, but I’m glad you were able to sneak more people in. Don’t think I’ll ever get over how cute Nacho is either!xx

Thanks Hannah 😊 Really?! I absolutely loved it, I would so so so love to have my own!! Yeah it’s annoying but some people only ended up bringing one person or couldn’t attend so we were able to grab some more luckily! Xx

Nacho’s pose in that final photo is absolutely everything. I love this post idea and it’s so cute seeing you and your family at different stages in your life. I’ve always hated having my photo taken so I hardly have any of me with anyone after the age of about 8. I honestly don’t even think I’d be able to get 5 photos together to do a post like this! The motorbike photo is my favourite! x

She always goes crazy when the Compare The Market advert comes on with the meerkats and that’s what happened hahaha! Really!? I have so many from my teenage years and admittedly they are god awful but so funny to look back on! X

I love that you have a family picture – major congrats to Nick for his achievements! You’re so cute on your dad’s bike! I love how happy you and Marika look at the festival. It is always great to catch up with friends, especially at an event! Your family picture with Jake and Navo is CUTE!!!! Nacho is just there looking lost, hehe. Thanks for sharing these lovely pictures!! Love the throwback vibes ♥

Love all of these and made me cry – happy tears xxx

  8. Top 5 would be SO hard to pick, I’ve gotten so many photos over the years that it would seem impossible, but I reckon I could do it – majority would be wedding day ones, but there are some with my Grandma that passed 4 years ago that I couldn’t not include. Like you, I can’t believe it’s been that long and definitely regret not having taken more photos with her – I lived with her for a few years before moving out and she was the most incredible (frustrating lol), loving woman! I’d love to see more photos like this from you! ❤️❤️

    • blacktulipbeauty says:

It really is when thinking back, I bet there are loads of photos that I’ve forgotten about that I would’ve loved to include! Yeah it is sad when someone passes and you realise that you haven’t got much left of them, it’s why I take so many photos now! X

  9. Loved reading this, such a feel good post and remember the importance of photos x

  10. Oh my god look at your dog! So funny! I love things like this – photos are so special to me and I much prefer physical photos than any on my laptop.

    • blacktulipbeauty says:

Hehe she’s cute isn’t she! It’s crazy to me that 3 of these photos are physical and one of a kind – so many are digital and easily replaceable now! X

Love this post! I always enjoy looking back over old family photos and don’t think I could narrow it down to my top five – there’s so many to choose from. Also Nacho is the best name for a pup EVER. x

  14. Aw these photos are so so sweet! I love looking back at old photos and recalling the memories attached to them. It’s also weird to look back and think ‘that was me and I remember how I was, but I’m totally different now’.. Pictures definitely speak a thousand words, right?!xo
