You can read my Amsterdam Travel Diary: Days 1 & 2 here. I’m going to leave it there for the intro and jump straight in with day 3. Just a pre-warning there are some slightly gruesome pictures from an exhibition coming up from a museum so if you’re squeamish you might not want to read on!
Today we got up, got on the tram and went straight to…
My blood sugar was at an all time low so we decided to go to an “Ice Bakery” and I picked up an oreo cookie and Jake an oreo donut. It was so huge I couldn’t even finish half of it but my GOD was it yummy (for €3.75 it should’ve bloody been).
Guess what we decided to do next… go back to the apartment and nap of course! Hah. Maybe we should’ve gone on a sun holiday?! We then got all showered and dressed up and went out on the search for a cute and romantic restaurant. We found a perfect little candlelit tapas place called “Joselitos” where we had sangria, olives, omelette, bruschetta with tapenade, garlic chicken and calamari. We had the most incredible night and I’m so happy we found such an adorable, quiet restaurant to have a nice meal in.
Jake decided to have 2 black coffees late the night before so slept awfully and my illness decided to have a break down and metaphorically punch me in the face unfortunately so we woke up at 8:30am when my alarm went off and decided it best if we went back to sleep… Waking up again at 11:15am I still felt absolutely terrible but managed to haul myself out of bed as it was our last day and the zoo was calling our name.
We ended up getting to the zoo at about 2pm which was quite late but still had a good few hours to wander around as it didn’t close until 6! It was a pretty big zoo with some brilliant animals to see but as I was so out of it I didn’t take a lot of photos, more just stumbled around clutching onto Jake and smiling at the animals, haha! We still managed to enjoy our last day despite this though and sat in a cafe at one point which had giraffes on one side and a cute canal on the other. I would definitely love to come back here next time so I could properly take in everything it has to offer as Jake and I really love learning about animals.
And that concludes our wonderful little city break to Amsterdam, we will definitely be back within the next few years to fill all the gaps we missed! I already have a list of what I really want to do next time we go… but I think our next holiday is going to be somewhere in Greece where we don’t have to do anything but lie on the beach for a week! I’ve never been anywhere in Greece either so I’d love to travel anywhere there really, if anyone has any recommendations please let me know!
Where are you planning your next holiday and why? Is Amsterdam on your list?
