As Christmas is coming up and unfortunately not all of us have the funds to spoil our loved ones to the high heavens, I thought now would be a perfect time to be doing a few more budget beauty posts in the hope of helping at least someone out with a present/stocking idea or two. Today I’ll be talking about some of MUAs £1 lipsticks that I’ve picked up and how I’ve been getting on with them. You can also have a little read about one of my all time favourite super cheap palettes by MUAhere.
I bought all of these from Superdrug and even though they’re a bargain at £1 each, I did manage to get them on a 3 for 2 offer (with a few other bits) so I actually got all 4 lipsticks for £2! I decided to go for shades I think I’d wear the most, as quite a pale person there aren’t all that many shades that truly suit me so I went for two red shades perfect for this season and two more subtle purpley shimmery shades for more every day wear.
Here they all are on:
I’d call this a strong, classic red with a wine-coloured undertone.
This is a subtle shimmery pink with a purple hint.
Probably my favourite – a really lovely sheer purple with quite a bit of shimmer.
The words that come to my head are “pin-up”, it’s that kind of shade that’s unapologetically red, no burgundy tones, just a stunning red that also compliments whiteness of the teeth.
I am honestly so pleasantly surprised by these £1 lipsticks, I’ve been opting for more of a satin finish in lip products recently as at this time of year my lips are dry enough from the cold without wearing matte products on top of them, killing them even more. These creamy lipsticks work perfectly as they sit on the lips so nicely and aren’t drying at all, you can top them up whenever you want and they won’t build up a weird residue like a lot of matte products and you don’t have to be worried about using a lot of product as they’re so cheap!
The only thing that gives these MUA lipsticks away is probably the packaging as it is quite cheap looking due to the shiny plastic finish but that’s literally the smallest possible issue as the quality is amazing. I’d highly recommend these as a gift or even for treating yourself this Christmas, they come in loads of different shades suitable for so many skin tones and Superdrug has almost always got 3 for 2 on beauty on so you can get them for an even better deal!
Have you tried any MUA lipsticks or products at all? I love their highlighters too!
