Beauty On A Budget: The Poundland OGX Dupe!

Beauty On A Budget: The Poundland OGX Dupe!

Hey everyone!

I’m temporarily putting the consistent Christmas posts on hold to give my report on these hair products I recently found in Poundland. “Poundland!?” you say, bear with me here. As I said in my recent Beauty On A Budget post, I thought it’d be good to get a few of these in before Christmas as it could inspire some cheap and cheerful gifts! We all sadly can’t afford to splurge on our loved ones, as much as we’d really love to.

The brand is called “Nutrafix” and these caught my eye originally as the packaging reminded me of the OGX hair products. I then saw “almond oil” and combined with the scent, I just HAD to pick them up as I’m a sucker for anything almond. I think it’s such a sweet and gorgeous smell and almond oil is a super nourishing ingredient. For £1 each and being from Poundland, I was a bit skeptical. They seemed to be low on stock though which can only be a good sign, right!?

So the real question is… what did I think?

The shampoo smells the strongest out of the two and I adore it. The consistency is perfect and it foams up really nicely and goes quite a long way so there’s no need to use a lot. It cleanses the hair really well and doesn’t leave it knotty and dry like a lot of cheaper shampoos tend to do. And as someone with dry and bleached hair, I know the feeling too well! I’d definitely pay much more for this product.

Conditioners can be a bit of a problem for me sometimes. Due to my dry hair I need something deeply nourishing but not something that’s going to make my hair feel heavy and greasy. I’ve got to say I’m actually really damn impressed with this product. I was so skeptical as the formula of it is pretty thin but it actually makes your hair feel so soft and silky. It makes it super easy to get a brush through your hair afterwards and as the formula is a little thinner, it spreads out really nicely through the hair without clumping so you don’t overuse it. This is well worth the money and I’d definitely recommend it!

The only thing I was a little disappointed about with these products is that you can’t smell the almond after washing them out of your hair. I love my hair to have a nice smell to it but this doesn’t seem to leave anything behind at all! But really it’s a small problem as the effect of the products is so impressive for the price.

I absolutely adore OGX products but I just can’t justify the price a lot of the time unfortunately so these are a fabulous alternative. They also have quite a few others in their range such as coconut milk, jojoba oil, argan oil, caffeine and keratin oil so if the almond oil doesn’t sound like your cup of tea there are plenty of other options! They’d be perfect in a little beauty hamper or as a gift for someone who likes treating their hair. I cannot wait to pick up the others from the range and try them out as I’m sure they’re just as luxurious, I think argan oil is next on my list!

What are your holy grail budget hair products?

’Til next time,

I have seen these so many time but was a little sceptical. I might need to try this set though – Almond isn’t one of my favourite scents so I am glad it doesn’t stay in your hair! Just like you, my hair is super dry because of bleaching, so tis conditioner sounds perfect for me – at just £1!! xo

I hardly shop in Poundland now since moving to Aylesbury. But then I’ve tried staying with what I know as I’m on a massive budget cut at the moment for things. But I’m definitely going to start shopping in Poundland, these are incredible and I love how there’s only one bad point for a £1 shampoo/conditioner. I love the sound of this one as well as coconut oil. Great lovely, thank youu for this post! Definitely going to keep reading your beauty on a budget posts!

Ooh fab find, shame the scent doesn’t last! I really like any hair product that is silicone free as my hair just prefers it that way x

    • 15th December 2017 / 11:56 am

Oh and sulfate free, forgot my hair doesn’t love that either haha x

These sound like awesome dupes for the OGX shampoo and conditioners; and for just £1, you really can’t go wrong! It’s a shame that the scent doesn’t last once you’ve washed it out but I’m glad that you liked them despite that! xx

I actually thought this was the OGX line at first, almond sounds incredible!! It’s so good to find cheap products that work. My favorite have to be the Not Your Mother’s lineup – they’re cruelty free and sulfate free so they’re perfect to me 🙂 and they smell incredible!

  7. 15th December 2017 / 9:00 pm

Wow! I will definitely be trying these. OGX have been my go-to shampoo brand for about two years now! It would be absolutely amazing to find a cheaper alternative x

  8. 15th December 2017 / 9:46 pm

I would have had to pick these up at a £1! Its a shame your hair doesnt small afterwards though as that is something I look for in a hair product!

They are SO worth the £1 despite the smell disappointment! X

  9. 17th December 2017 / 9:04 am

I tried the coconut OGX shampoo and conditioner and I really didn’t like them! But maybe there’s better ones for my hair, it just seemed to make it super oily. These sound pretty fab though, although I do agree I’d prefer if the scent lingered around in your hair afterwards x

  11. 18th December 2017 / 12:20 pm

Ooh these sound fab and they’re soo cheap!? I loove the sound of the Almond Oil, but it is a shame that the scent doesn’t last long on your hair as I love my hair to smell like shampoo for at least a day after use. The Coconut Milk and Argan Oil offerings sound perfect as well xo

No way, how cool are these! It sounds great, too bad the smell doesn’t last too long but can’t have everything. It’s still so good! I tend to buy overpriced hair products but I really should start looking for them in Savers and Poundland because why not?

Hi, do you know whether these shampoos are sulphate free? That’s the main reason I buy OGX as sulphates irritate my scalp and the skin on my face when washing my shampoo out. I usually wait for OGX to be on offer (tesco, Asda and superdrug) as it crops up around £4 bottle, then stock up!
