Marks and Spencer recently had a pretty decent sale on their site and thankfully some bits from the beauty section were included! Although as the beauty brands Marks and Spencer offer are mostly high end, they were admittedly still pretty expensive. I got a tinted Burts Bees lip balm in a beauty box I used to be signed up to about a year ago and I still use it religiously so it must be coming to its death soon. I happened to tell my mum I liked the look of this set and she surprised me with it when her order came which was super lovely. It was half its usual price at £8 which for 3 lip balms and a cute little bag I thought was quite good!
I’ve never picked up anything from Burts Bees other than the tinted lip balm so I was super excited to try some other lip products they offer, especially as they’re cruelty free and 100% natural. On research I found out they do some body care too. I’m currently lusting after the almond and milk hand cream they sell as I’m a sucker for anything with almond in! I’ve been trying out these balms for the past week now and thought I’d do a little review on each of them individually.
I was expecting the balm to be bright red in colour for some reason but it’s actually clear. Probably as the packaging is such a vibrant red. It’s also really quite subtle scent-wise and really reminds me of the taste of an ice lolly when applying to the lips. I’m actually really glad as it’s nice to have a more subtle and neutral one along-side the other two in this pack for the days you need just that. The consistency is wonderfully buttery and stays on the lips to provide hydration for hours. I’m a fan and I’m more than sure that Jake will be trying to nab this off of me!
The lip shimmers contain shea butter, vitamin E and and of course beeswax. They also have a bit of a minty tingle to them which is quite nice and peppermint acts as a natural lip plumper too. There’s another shade “Rhubarb” which I have my eye on as it looks super pretty. I love that this one is a bit thinner than the balms as it provides an easier and more precise application to the lips. The colour is a gorgeous medium and warm toned pink with a beautiful shimmer to it. The shade actually reminds me of my favourite MUA lipstick so I’m delighted to have found a more moisturising alternative too! I can already tell this is going to be one I re-purchase.
This shade is slightly lighter than the one I’ve been using which is perfect as I wanted a more of a subtle pink to wear. The tinted balms are perfect for days when you want a bit of colour on your lips but don’t want anything too prominent or drying. You also don’t really have to worry about smudging them as they are silky balms and are not block colours. This shade was actually surprisingly subtle, possibly a little too much so. My lips are naturally pinky so it might just be that it just matched them well. It did slightly accentuate the colour but I would have to put it in the “barely there” or the “your lips but better” category – which isn’t a bad thing. The formula is as rich and creamy as ever but I do have to say that this one wears off a little easier and quicker than the other two.
I can honestly say I’ve fallen in love with Burts Bees lip products! They are so easy to use with such natural and gorgeous formulas. I’m definitely putting some of their body care items on my wishlist! Have you tried anything from them that you’d recommend?
