Is anyone else a massive hoarder? I realised recently after my boyfriend making a passing comment, that I get obsessions and a lot of them. Some are fleeting and some a bit more long-term. It started with clothes, then shoes which I definitely both get from my mum. Then went to skulls, I have well over 100 and my collection is still growing. Don’t even get me started on how much makeup I have. It then went on to bath products, I have two entire boxes under my bed of them and I DO use them, I never have a bath without something to enhance it but I somehow manage to stock it up just as fast as it deteriorates (thanks Bomb Cosmetics). There are plenty more but I’d be here all day.
My newest obsession is candles, I can’t get enough of them. Considering I often get quite bad sensory overload, headaches and migraines, it doesn’t sound like it makes much sense but a lot of the time I like to just look at them rather than burn them. Don’t worry, I know how crazy that sounds, I’ve made my peace with my weird ways. My latest addition has been one kindly sent over from Candle Pin Club and I HAVE actually burnt this one because there was more than just the scent benefit to it, read on to find out more.
Candle Pin Club are an up and coming brand selling a unique and exciting product. At first glance, they look like normal, cute candles. Which they are but they come with a surprise. As the candle burns, you’re guaranteed to find a hidden pin somewhere inside! All their pins have also been designed especially for them so you won’t find them anywhere else. The candles are made of 100% soy wax which is much more environmentally friendly, slower burning and means they have a better scent throw than paraffin.
Their scents go from Candy and Very Berry to Sea Salt and Sugar and Spice, so there’s something suitable for everyone. The “Happy Birthday” scent is definitely next on my list to try! Something I really love about Candle Pin Club is that they’re interested in helping the environment aswell as producing great products, they have a guide here of how you can re-use your glass and even any leftover wax after the candle has finished!
The lovely guys at Candle Pin Club said I could choose a scent for them to send over so I went with Candy as I’m a huge sucker for anything sweet. It arrived in a box almost exactly the size of the candle but was well packaged enough with paper that it wouldn’t get damaged (10 more points for being environmentally friendly). The scent is gorgeous, it reminds me of Chewits personally meaning it definitely lives up to its name of Candy. I also got given a really cute pin of their logo which I’m definitely going to put on one of my leather jackets.
Candy is a pale pink colour and the advice that comes with the candle is to burn it for 4 hours initially. This is to make sure it has an even burn pool to minimise leftover wax and it worked perfectly! The candle burned perfectly evenly and after about 8 hours of burning, I saw a little foil package start to appear in the wax. When I was sure all the wax around it was melted, I took the package out with a pair of tweezers (I’m unsure as to whether this is how you’re meant to do it, but it worked well for me). After letting the package cool, I unwrapped the foil to find an adorable little rainbow cake pin with the words ‘eat me’ on it!
Wax had seeped in and gotten on the pin slightly but it was nothing that a bit of warm water and a cotton bud couldn’t easily sort! The pin is really cute, super sturdy and honestly probably my favourite one that they offer so I was really pleased. Overall, I’d highly recommend these candles. The scent throw is a lot better than I’d expected for a smaller candle, there was no black smoke or soot released at any point, I really love how they’re presented and how the company want to keep their products environmentally friendly.
