This is an odd blog post name, I know. You know how everyone goes on about how your 21st birthday is meant to be a really important one and you’re meant to super celebrate it? Well I was really damn ill on mine last year so I couldn’t. As a consequence of this I was also really miserable.
Despite trying my best to enjoy it, it was really quite an awful birthday as far as they go. In all honesty my health is actually worse this year but I’ve learned to handle every aspect of it a hell of a lot better. So for that reason, we decided to re-do my 21st birthday and call it my 21(+1) celebrations!
I mentioned my plans for the weekend in my last post here. The plans went exactly to plan and I honestly could not have had a nicer weekend with some fabulous people.
The Florist On My Birthday
After having a very chilled out morning opening some really lovely presents and cards from loved ones, me, Jake, my mum and my brother went to a place called The Florist for lunch. The decor in there is absolutely beautiful and the cocktails and garnish on them second to none. After devouring a shared starter of 2 lavender honey and sunflower loaves with whipped goats cheese butter, 3 of us opted for the hanging kebabs with my brother going for the chicken burger. The hanging kebabs were served on a singular skewer with a choice of sauce dribbling down it (I chose garlic butter). Usually served with harissa chips, I thought I’d swap mine for the polenta which were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy in the centre. After completely stuffing ourselves out and making it back home, we slept for quite a while and then Jake and I popped to The Mall in the evening so I could treat myself to a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick! I went for the shade “Bond Girl” as it’s definitely an every day kind of shade for me but it isn’t too pale either.
I haven’t actually tried it out yet but I am SO excited to and to hopefully fall in love with it. I also got a new lens for my Olympus pen for my birthday so was playing around with it on the evening with the lipstick and the Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm that my mum surprised me with – I got some gorgeous photos that I’ll pop into my post on Wednesday about the beauty products I received for my birthday! I’m IN LOVE with the lens and will definitely be doing a little review of it when I’ve got to grips with how to get the best use out of it.
Rock n Roll Party
My favourite thing about it was that it was so rich without being too sickly and sweet. It went down such a treat with guests and I think we have a few new bakerdays fans in the house! If you want to grab yourself one of these adorable, customisable and delicious cakes, you can get yourself 15% off with the code BLACKTULIP15 on their site here!
Jake, my mum and I ended up staying up until gone 3am catching up with one of my oldest friends Dan (who actually designed my Black Tulip Beauty logo – he’s a fancy graphic designer living in London now). It was so lovely to just feel so normal and be having such a nice time. I did end up spending the majority of Sunday asleep as my body can’t cope with doing so much usually but it was so worth it for how much I enjoyed myself.
An absolutely ginormous thank you to Jake and my mum for spoiling the hell out of me, making everything so special and just helping me out in general without a second thought. Also a massive thank you to anyone who bought me a gift or a card or sent me well wishes, it’s so brilliant to know I have so many caring people around me! It was even better than what I imagined my 21st birthday to be like and I’m SO happy I was able to essentially re-do it.
What did you do for your 21st birthday?
