My first collaboration post of the year is here and it’s with the fabulous British brand, Proto-col! They kindly sent me some of their hero products to try out and report back to you guys which I’m super excited about. This post is solely going to be about the makeup they sent and I’m also currently testing out two of their skincare products. With skincare I feel a need a bit more time to see just how beneficial they are so make sure you check back soon for another post on how they worked out. If you want to see my recent post on Makeup Revolutions Ultra Pro Glow Highlight Palette too, you can check that out here!
Firstly, can we talk about how GORGEOUS the packaging is!? I am such a huge fan of the metallic pink and silver combination. It makes the products look so professional and aesthetically pleasing.
I was expecting this to just be one shade but It’s actually a compact neutral trio to my pleasant surprise! There’s a gorgeous gold and two different shades of brown. It’s such a perfect size to keep in your handbag to top up or travel with. I was hugely happy with how this applied, the gold is a beautiful shimmery base and easily buildable for more of an inner corner pop. The medium brown is a really lovely colour to put in the crease and as a transition shade and the dark brown is gorgeous to smoke out a look with and to apply on the waterline too.
As they are mineral products, I sort of expected them to be really subtle but they’re actually super pigmented much to my pleasant surprise. I only had to use a couple of dabs to get a good show up of the colour on my lids and after creating two different looks with them, the trio still looks untouched. I’d say this is the most universal colour combo they sell in this product but they have 4 others on their site here, I think the Mulberry one looks absolutely gorgeous too! I love a good pink/burgundy eye look. I’d definitely recommend this product for anyone at any makeup level, they’re so easy to work with/blend and brilliant for the price as I have a feeling they’d last forever!
Again, I think this is the most universal shade in this product! They have two other shades on their website here but they’re a bit more peachy/red toned which for people with my skin tone, isn’t usually that flattering. People with darker toned skin would be the ideal people for those shades! I’ve got to be honest, I was a little skeptical as cream blushes I’ve tried before haven’t been that great. They’ve taken off my base layer of foundation or just not blended and made me look like a china doll with those odd blush circles. But I always try to be open-minded as I’ve been proved wrong with many products.
I’ve got to say, I actually loved using this product. As it’s cream I popped it on after my foundation and before my powder and it gave my cheeks such a healthy and natural glow. I went for a dabbing technique with my finger along the apples of my cheeks and it sat so nicely on my skin without being too prominent. I’d say this product is perfect for people who want to do their selves up a little but still want that natural beauty look. I’m excited to experiment and practice with it some more!
These smell absolutely GORGEOUS as they have essence of vanilla in. Proto-col sell these in 4 different shades and I got sent a gorgeous shimmery nude and a bright, classic red. They also have a shade called “Berry” which I am DYING to try as we all know I love a vampy lip. I can’t say I have a whole lot to say about these as they were so easy to apply. I struggle with shaky hands and I managed to get a really nice outline of my lips on first try! I wouldn’t say they were either matte or shine, somewhere in the middle of the two and super moisturising as they contain shea butter and almond oil.
I created a natural glow look with the products using Cinnamon…
And a smokier evening look with the products using Rouge!
These have honestly been some of the nicest products I’ve ever been sent to try and I’ve had so much fun experimenting with them. It’s made me even more excited to see what the skincare products I’m trying will do for me! Have you tried anything from Proto-col before? They also specialise in advanced nutrition too which you can have a browse at on their site here.
