So I’m back to beauty quicker than I expected with some lovely bits from KISS and ImPRESS sent over by the Alex Silver PR team for me to review! I won’t say a lot in the introduction as I’ve blabbed on quite a bit in this post so I hope you enjoy!
I went through a phase just over a year ago where I was religiously wearing fake lashes to the point I felt I looked odd without them – imagine that!? I was obsessed with the trusty Ardell wispies and being the hygiene freak I am, I also refused to wear them more than once so this obsession started to cost me an arm and a leg. Luckily, when I started a job with 5am starts, applying false lashes was the last thing on my mind so I managed to snap out of it.
The ones I got sent over from KISS are called “Shy” and they’re a lot more natural looking than lashes I have used previously. In all honesty, I was a little nervous about using them as it’s been a pretty long time since I’ve used them. Anyone who’s experienced with fake lashes knows that some brands are an absolute nightmare to apply, some are irritating to keep on and some glues given along with lashes may aswell be labelled “PVA”.
I must praise KISS on these, the band of the lashes is super thin and flexible which made them easy to get parallel with the lash line. The glue was also just as good as my trusty holy grail “Duo” glue. I didn’t think anything would compare to it but I can’t say I noticed a difference between the two. I applied the lashes the normal way I always do, with a little lash applicator I bought off eBay. I find it’s a lot easier and quicker to use than tweezers personally as it’s better to clamp everything together at the end. I’d recommend tweezers for beginners though as you can get in to the lash line closer and more precisely.
Almost too easy. The removal was painless and there was no glue residue left behind on my lash line either. The lashes were also easy to clean off and in great condition ready for another wear!
Additional Comments about KISS Lashes
I’d say these lashes are brilliant for people who want to experiment/are just getting into them as they look nice and natural. They’re also easily spruced up with a coat or two of mascara which is what I decided to do.
Okay so, I have a confession to make. I’m an acrylic nail virgin. Never have I ever worn acrylic nails of any sort (until now). I’m 100% a beauty lover but I’m really quite a tomboy too in certain aspects. I think the main reason for me not taking care of my nails is because I’ve had bad eczema on my hands for as long as I can remember. I’ve never wanted to draw any extra attention to them whatsoever as I’ve spent all my time loathing and being embarrassed by them. So why would I want to paint them – let alone stick bits of plastic to them?
I’m currently on Prednisolone for an illness I have which has magically cleared up my eczema for the first time probably since i was born. Because of this, my hands now look pretty normal meaning I can put pretty things on my nails! As a complete nail novice, here are my opinions on ImPRESS nails…
I decided to apply these at 10pm the night before a blogging event as I promised myself I’d wear them for it. Clearly I completely forgot about this promise until I was all tucked up in bed… Luckily, they were unbelievably simple to apply and I managed to do both of my hands, on my own in around 25 minutes. The nails already had the sticky part attached to them, you just had to pick the right size for yourself and peel the tab off. After this, you press down the acrylic nail on top of your own for a small while and voila, they are secure! After applying them all, I went round again and re-pressed just to make sure they were on there firmly.
The removal process was also pretty simple. Instead of just peeling them off I decided to let them soak in a warm bath and then try. They came off smoothly with a few needing a slight tug and leaving a small amount of gluey residue. This was easily removed with a bit more soaking and towel rubbing.
Additional thoughts on imPRESS Nails
I must say I am thoroughly pleased with my ImPRESS experience and am extremely excited to wear my pink set for my birthday coming up this month! They’ve also really made me want to take a chance and get some acrylics done in a salon as I loved them so much and I’ve always wanted some witchy claws. I‘d highly recommend ImPRESS nails for a sturdy, reliable, easy and pretty manicure!
