Korean beauty has been creeping up in a lot of places over the past few years and it’s something I’d been admiring but hadn’t yet indulged in. It’s safe to say when I was contacted by Wishtrend* to try a few of their Korean beauty products I was super excited to get my hands on a couple of things! I chose two skincare bits from the brand ‘Klairs’ and have been trying them out for a little while. Here are my thoughts on them…
Despite being called black sugar, it’s actually dark brown in colour and surprisingly smells subtly like curry powder. It’s not an off-putting scent though and the consistency is really quite thick and gloopy. The instructions advise you to mix it with water before application or for more sensitive skin to dilute it with your normal cleansing oil.
On using the scrub, I decided to wet my face beforehand and apply it straight onto my skin instead of mixing it first. The exfoliant particles are gentle and feel slightly like what I would describe as larger granules of sugar. I usually tend to stick to using scrubs on just my T zone but I decided to use this all over my face as I felt it was gentle enough. After rubbing it in circular motions around my face and washing it off, I was really pleasantly surprised. My skin felt really super soft and all round well cleansed. After using it a few times, my skin is definitely feeling quite a bit softer and the appearance of blackheads has decreased. It’s safe to say I am really impressed by this scrub and will be keeping this in my skincare routine!
i have to admit, I asked for this cream as I thought it was a rich moisture cream. It turns out that it’s sole purpose is to soothe the skin and not so much for hydration. Although it isn’t the product I thought it was, it’s actually quite suitable for my skin at the moment. If you’ve read my post on the GlamGlow Supermud Mask, you’ll see my skin has been really quite bad in areas recently due to medication. It can get really quite sore and irritated sometimes so hopefully this cream will be a nice calming addition for my skin. Especially as there is no scent to it at all.
On application it does provide a cooling element although nothing too intense. It provides a good barrier between the skin and any irritants for a while as it is quite a thick cream. What it doesn’t provide though, is deep hydration. Although it doesn’t claim to provide anything of the sort, I was still quite surprised because of the thickness of the product. This product would be perfect for someone who has super sensitive skin and needs something that will not clog it up but provide protection and some tranquility for the skin. It’d also be particularly useful to apply as aftersun. Although this isn’t something I’d use on the daily, it’s definitely a really handy product to have when having a skin flare up or to take away on holiday!
What are your thoughts on Korean beauty? Have you tried any of it yet or made a purchase from Wishtrend?
