I was going to start this post by saying I’m incredibly excited to be uploading this but then I realised I’ve actually started quite a few posts that way. I wanted to put even more emphasis on the fact I’m REALLY EXCITED to be working with Lucy and Yak. I’ve been admiring their products and to be honest everything about their business for quite a while now and I just know by the end of this post, you will too!
Lucy And Yak dungarees were the first thing that drew me in from the brand. Upon browsing further, I realised there’s an incredible amount of beautiful clothing items on offer as well as the company being ethical, working towards being sustainable and just all-round lovely. You can read their full story on their site here if you’re interested in Lucy and Chris’ journey to setting up the company! It’s inspiring and full of love and passion so I’d highly recommend it.
All of their clothing is made in India and they make sure the tailors creating their clothes are paid more than a fair wage. It actually states on their website that they are paid 4 times the state minimum wage over there! On top of that, following their sustainable ethos, they’re hopefully eventually going to be running off of completely renewable energy from solar panels which is fabulous news!
As promised on the website, my Lucy And Yak dungarees arrived in a 100% recycled and reusable material bag and then were packaged inside a 100% biodegradable mail bag. They also came with a cute little thank you/information card and a returns slip which are both made from recycled paper.
If all of this fabulous information isn’t enough to make you fall in love with Lucy And Yak, in addition to all of their incredible permanent offerings, they also work with artists to release limited edition items with really funky and individual prints on them. Which is exactly what the dungarees I have chosen are! The design is called “Hinke” and they are yellow, red and black tartan. I honestly don’t think I could be more in love with them. The print and colours are the perfect combination of alternative, funky and honestly just everything I love. The material is 100% cotton and they are actually 100% organic, too!
I’m not going to lie, I’m one of those people who is either at one end or the other with my appearance. I’m usually either full face and fabulous fashion or old baggy t-shirt and leggings with no makeup. I definitely feel like I need to find an in between though and these Lucy And Yak dungarees might just be it. Super comfortable but still funky, as easy to dress up as to dress down and perfect with a plain or statement tee and comfy trainers.
The way I’ve styled this outfit is casual but still pretty smart and cute. I decided to pair it with a white Boohoo statement tee that has a line drawing of lips and displays the words ‘love is love’. Only wearing one side tied up gives the ultimate laid back vibe and also lets everyone see how cute the logo and statement on your tee is. The Vans are from the Lazy Oaf collaboration range, they’re pink, black and white with checkerboard laces and despite the print clash I think they go perfectly and add a great element of character to the outfit.
Alternative Styling of “Hinke” Lucy And Yak Dungarees
I don’t think I’ve ever looked so confident and sassy in photographs as I do in these. I absolutely LOVE this outfit. I’m always one for black and tartan as I’ve always been a gothic fashion lover but I honestly just feel like this outfit is kind of a dream come true. The baby heart sleeved top is from Bershka which is one of my absolute favourite places to shop. They’ve recently (and FINALLY) opened a store in Bristol and I am over the moon as I’m constantly browsing their site. Another amazing thing is that it’s opened just across from Monki, another of my favourite stores. Guess who’s going into their overdraft?!
I’ve also just realised whilst I’m writing this that the shoes I’m wearing in this outfit are another Lazy Oaf collaboration, oops. This time they are with Dr Martens though. If you know me, you’ll know I have a hell of a collection of Dr Martens and these are for sure one of my favourite pairs. Suede, double soled with the cutest little pink hearts indented on the heel. I feel like they really bring this entire outfit together along with my gorgeous new super expensive £3 shades from Primark and a Bobbi Brown red lipstick (gifted) in the shade “Russian Doll“.
Fun fact: these are actually my first ever pair of dungarees as I always thought I was too short and a tad too chubby for them. Luckily, my mindset has changed and I think I absolutely rock them now. Along with the fact that Lucy and Yak give the option of a 30″ leg for us vertically challenged people. Not going to lie, I did still have to roll them up a little bit but to be honest I think they look much cooler rolled up anyway! Also, they have 3 POCKETS, AND THEY’RE DECENTLY SIZED. What a dream. I am entirely in love with them and cannot wait to try some other Lucy And Yak dungarees as well as maybe a boiler suit, sweater and some trousers… I can already hear my bank account screaming.
How would you style funky Lucy And Yak dungarees?
’Til Next Time,
