My VIP Experience With Lush Cribbs Causeway!

7th July 2019
Lush Cribbs Causeway

This post contains a gifted experience and all items are gifted unless stated otherwise but all opinions are my own.

Hey everyone!

I did announce it on my socials but incase you missed it, this collaboration with Lush is the 100th brand I’ve collaborated with! I don’t know about you but I think that’s pretty fabulous seeing as my blog has only been self-hosted since August 2017. There is no way I could have done it without all of you lovely viewers so thank you so much for sticking with me!

Onto the post, I recently got invited into my local Lush store for a VIP experience with the lovely Asiyah who works in PR! One of my first ever reviews was of a Lush shampoo that I was a committed user of so it’s sort of surreal to now say I’ve collaborated with them. I wasn’t entirely sure what was going to happen before I arrived but as a lady who loves a pamper, I was more than excited. You can also visit the Lush Cribbs Causeway Instagram here!

My VIP Experience With Lush Cribbs Causeway!

I received the most adorable greeting of a sign welcoming me into the Lush Cribbs Causeway store with rose petals scattered and a lovely vase of flowers next to the area where the experience was to take place. It was really overwhelming in a lovely way to have such a personal and thoughtful greeting to the store. I was then brought a lovely oat milk coffee which I’ve never actually tried before. Can confirm that it tasted dreamy

Hand & Arm Massage

After the wonderful and thoughtful greeting, Asiyah and I became well acquainted whilst she gave me a hand and arm massage with the Wiccy Magic Muscles massage bar. It has peppermint and cinnamon essential oils in and felt incredible on my skin. You can also turn it over and use the aduki beans to work out knots.

Side note: I was led on my sofa later on, kept getting whiffs of cinnamon and realised that it was the massage bar still smelling so strong hours later. I was planning to pick it up after the experience but I completely forgot. I’m a huge sucker for spicy scents so I popped back in two days later and bought it!

Lush Cribbs Causeway – Makeup

Asiyah and I discussed what I’d like to focus on in the store. As someone who is a beauty and bath fanatic in every way, I said I couldn’t pick just one area but I’d definitely like to include makeup as surprisingly, it’s one area of Lush that I’m yet to try ANYTHING in. They have actually just launched a new range online but it’s yet to hit stores so we stuck to the basics which for Summer, is more than perfect for me.

Lush makeup products

The only two products I didn’t go away with were the Emotional Brilliance powder and the Eyes Right mascara. The powder looked incredible and it had such a lovely pinky toned glow which I think would’ve looked lovely on my pale skin if I do say so myself. I am really tempted to go back for this one soon as I especially want to give it a go after reading reviews! I didn’t get to try the mascara as unfortunately I already had some on but the brush was bendable with small bristles which would be perfect for precise application. It’s just the formula I’d have to try before investing!

Independent Eyeliner // £15.00

Independent eyeliner

So this liner claims to be blacker than black like many others and on this rare occasion, I actually agree that it is. It’s really surprisingly easy to apply for a pot liner. I’m usually fully invested in using pen liners as I tend to get a much smoother line with them but I actually loved using this. It doesn’t dry super fast which I think some people would struggle with but I thought it would be suitable for someone that would like to build their liner without having it crumble due to layering. It’s also easier to fix and wipe off if it’s still wet. I think I’ll get a lot of use out of this liner and the fact that it has soothing organic Fairtrade aloe vera gel in means it’s great for people with super sensitive eyes, like myself.

Feeling Younger Skin Tint // £12.50

Feeling Younger and Charisma skin tints

This was by far one of my favourite products of the day! It’s so beautifully glowy and versatile. It’s light but has golden shimmer in it so it’s suitable for a wide range of skin tones and just melts into the skin perfectly when you apply it. You can use it all over the face, as a highlighter, mix it with your foundation or moisturiser for extra glow and I personally would use it on my collarbones on a Sunny day. It’s fully buildable as well depending on how striking you like your glow and also it packs a punch so you only have to use minimal amount to create an impact.

Charisma Skin Tint // £12.50

Feeling Younger and Charisma skin tint

For a pale blonde girl like me, this product is quite terrifying to look at. But as with the Feeling Younger Skin Tint, it also melts really beautifully into the skin and leaves a subtle tanned glow. It has neither a warm base or an ashy base which makes it again, really quite versatile. I was worried I’d look orange when applying this as I always use ashy based contour products but because of the base tones, it luckily doesn’t give that effect. I find tanned skin hides any blemishes and discolourations way better than pale skin does, so I think this might be my Summer saviour for a natural looking cover-up product.

Lush Cribbs Causeway – Bath & Skincare

We all know that Lush is renowned for their bath products. The rainbow of colours, strong scents, glitter and special holiday, occasion and “just because” releases. It’s fair to say I have dabbled (quite a lot) in Lush’s bathing products as well as their skincare. Firm favourites of mine are Sex Bomb, Avobath and Dragons Egg for bath bombs and as I’m sure I’ve mentioned in a post before, their Vanishing Cream was my saviour cruelty-free alternative to the Kiehls Midnight Recovery Oil.

Goddess Bath Bomb // £5.95

As Asiyah and I bonded over our love of Ariana Grande, she decided to show me their Ari inspired bomb. This one is called Goddess and was created off the back of her single God Is A Woman. It was a Limited Edition product a while back but I never got the chance to pick it up so I am INCREDIBLY excited to use this. It exudes luxury with its ingredients, Fairtrade shea butter and cocoa butter and liquid gold argan oil. As well as its main scents of jasmine, oudh and sandalwood.  Not forgetting the beautiful shimmery purple and grey exterior. Sensual, softening and sultry, this bath bomb truly is fit for a Goddess. (I’m secretly hoping I’ll leave the bath as Ari after I use this).

Scrubbee // £9.00

Scrubee

Scrubee is a product that I’ve heard of many a time in the beauty world but completely slept on. I NOW FEEL SO MUCH REGRET. This product is absolutely divine! Firstly, the design is adorable – the cutest little bee. Secondly, it’s a 2 in 1 product that is actually beneficial. I’m not talking 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner (who ever thought that was a good idea?). On little Scrubees back are ground almonds and coconut shells to buff and exfoliate the skin. I personally would say it’s a medium strength scrub. Coarse enough to remove dead skin but not so much that it hurts.

You then turn little Scrubee over and rub his belly on your skin to moisturise. It leaves the most incredible layer of moisture that doesn’t wash off in the shower. The ULTIMATE lazy girl hack, I’m so here for it. Thirdly, the scent and the ingredients. I’m not joking when I say that it smells like white chocolate and leaves you smelling the same. Can you tell this product is making me emotional as I write? It’s changed my life. It also contains shea and cocoa butters, coconut oil and honey. I’m off to buy another five.

7 to 3 Face Cleansers // £2 each

This product actually blew my mind. “The biodegradable face wipes combining convenience with a conscience”. The cleansing formula in these makeup remover pads is no different to the 9 to 5 cleanser, just a different way of using it. The pads are made of ground cannellini beans which make them completely biodegradable and they also contain ingredients to lightly exfoliate, settle, moisturise, tone and calm the skin. They are designed to be used 3-5 times before disintegrating. The only downside is that they’re currently only suitable for removing light makeup but hopefully we’ll see something similar in the future for the full face lovers!

Powdered Sunshine SPF 15 // £8.00

Powdered Sunshine

This product also blew my mind. I honestly wish I’d known this existed a long time ago, it would’ve saved me so much stickiness and chub rub sores. It’s a powder SPF, let that sink in. No horrible sticky or smelly suncream?! And what’s even better, you can also put this on your scalp/in your hair for protection and as an alternative to dry shampoo. I’ve only burnt my scalp once or twice from the sun but boy does it hurt. And the third and final exciting thing, you can use it as a chafe powder! I will always be a thick thighed woman, they run in my family as well as me loving burgers too much. I quite like my chunky thighs but chafing is SO painful. I’m currently still using my Smoovall from my review last year but as soon as it has run out, I will be providing a full low down on this bad boy and if it’s thunder thigh approved.

Lush Cribbs Causeway – Haircare

Lush Cribbs Causeway shampoo bars

I’ve had a really difficult journey with my hair over the last few years. My deteriorating health, chemo-like medical treatments, steroids and surgery really took its toll and made at least half of my hair fall out. As someone who is also a committed bleacher, it was completely ruined. Fast forward to February this year, 5 months post-op and off of medication, I (reluctantly) had it chopped off into a long bob. Then had it all bleached back to my beloved platinum blonde. Despite being so scared about the chop, I can’t actually imagine myself with longer hair now and I don’t think I’ll go back to it for a very long time!

I’ve been consistently using the Innoluxe Platinum shampoo and conditioner which I did a whole post on here. It has been an absolute LIFE saver for my hair. It keeps orange tones out and has completely rebuilt the strength and thickness of my damaged locks. Now my hair is much more full and bouncy again, I want to start alternating between using Innoluxe and some natural and deep cleansing products as well as continuing to cut down on my plastic use – enter Lush!

Montalbano Shampoo Bar // £8.00

Montalbano shampoo bar

As a bleach blondie and someone who likes to go as long as they can without washing their hair, Asiyah recognised my individual needs and went straight for the shampoo bars rather than anything in a bottle. I’ve used Daddy-O SO many times before so it was nice to be shown something different. Montalbano is round in shape, bright yellow, citrus scented and has a lovely little dried lemon on for decoration.

Lemon juice is a natural brightener for blonde hair as well as being one of the top ingredients for making the hair shine. Montalbano also contains Sicilian lemon oil, green olives and rosemary to deeply cleanse and improve the tensile strength of hair. I’ve literally just used this product as I’m writing this and it is beautiful. It lathers up an incredible amount with the smallest dent made in the bar and my hair felt quite literally squeaky clean.

Sugar Daddy-O // £7.00

Sugar Daddy-O conditioner bar

As a long time Daddy-O shampoo user, I was definitely intrigued by this. I’ve always been someone that suffers with dry hair due to the bleach so I’ve tended to pile on conditioner on in the past. Asiyah made a very good point of saying that hair can only absorb so much product, so as long as you coat the hair, putting on more adds no benefit but wastes product and money. This is why conditioner bars are great as you can rub the bar onto the hair as much as you want until you feel there is enough and simply put it away.

Sugar Daddy-O is a purple conditioner meaning it helps to remove any brassiness from blonde hair. It’s easier than you think for bleached hair to turn brassy so this kind of product is something that I need to be consistently using. It also contains cocoa butter, linseed infusion and argan oil to keep the hair deeply nourished. The scent is just like parma violets thanks to the violet leaf absolute in it along with rose and bergamot adding to the overall floral vibe of the scent. I’m fully in love with it and even after only one use, I just KNOW I will be repurchasing both of these hair products.

Knot Wrap // £3.95

Last but of course not least, I got given a knot wrap to take away all of my goodies. The knot wraps that lush offer are either recycled vintage fabrics or made of recycled plastic bottles which is pretty damn cool. I picked a cute floral one and I’m super excited to wear it in my hair this Summer!

I would like to say the biggest thank you to Asiyah for inviting me in and the Lush Cribbs Causeway store and team for the lovely products and making me feel so welcome! I did also buy some other bits but I’m planning to review a few of them in the future so keep your eyes peeled for them.

Have you ever been in the Lush Cribbs Causeway store in Bristol? What are some of your favourite Lush products?

’Til Next Time,

 BTB Xx
