Floral And Fragrant Mocktails With Monin Syrups!

29th June 2018

Hey everyone!

I wrote a post recently about how I’m not a huge drinker of alcohol. This got some really great feedback and resulted in a lot of people relating and telling me they stick to drinking lemonade in the Sun. Which got me thinking – lets be honest, lemonade is pretty damn dull. Just because you don’t drink, it doesn’t mean you have to stick to boring drinks this Summer! I’ve been experimenting myself with some Monin syrups and seeing how easy it is to spruce up lemonade without adding alcohol. So here are a few recipes I’ve been loving…

Lavender Lemonade

This is honestly just as simple as it sounds. If you’re a fan of quite strong floral flavours then I can guarantee you’ll love this. I quite literally just mix one shot of Monin Lavender syrup with ice cubes and lemonade and voila! You have yourself a refreshing and relaxing concoction. Remember to pop in your paper or reusable straw and you could even garnish it with some floral tea leaves or lemon if you’re feeling adventurous.

Rose and Raspberry Virgin No-jito

Okay I’m slightly cheating with this one as the raspberry virgin mojito part is a pre-made drink from Morrisons. BUT you’re very welcome to go through the whole process and make it from scratch if you like. I know which I’d choose… For this I use three quarters of a shot of rose syrup and then around 150ml of the mojito mix. I then top it up with a bit of lemonade too as otherwise the taste is super strong but it’s all dependent on what you prefer drinking. I’d recommend using crushed ice for this in classic mojito style (I couldn’t find any for the pictures, oops) and popping a few mint leaves in for good measure.

Hibiscus and Elderflower Fizz

I honestly thought that hibiscus was going to be a really odd tasting thing but it really isn’t. It’s really quite sweet and lovely and I wouldn’t personally relate it to a flower. Due to this, elderflower is its perfect companion in a drink as it’s subtle, aromatic taste compliments the sweetness of the hibiscus. In this one I use 1 shot of hibiscus Monin syrup, half a shot of elderflower Bottle Green syrup and then top off with the desired amount of lemonade to add the fizz! You could also add a dabble of peach juice if you want to sweeten it up even more.

And there you have it! My current favourite is surprisingly the most simple, the lavender lemonade. I never thought I’d adore such a strong and fragrant taste so much! Jake said his favourite was the no-jito and he absolutely devoured it.

If it happens you are a drinker and fancy a fragrant refreshment one evening, you could also easily just add a few shots of your personal poison.

Monin Syrups

You can find Monin syrups in most big supermarkets but they have a huge range available to order online. You can buy them for usually around five or six pounds per bottle which is a bargain for how long they last. I definitely want to buy myself the passionfruit next to make some super fruity ones! They’re also suitable to add to hot drinks too. This post is also in no way sponsored by Monin, I just am genuinely crazy about their syrups!

  4. I LOVE the sound of the lavender one – I imagine it tastes a bit like Palma Violets!! I’m not much of a drinker and with my new meds, will probably steer clearer than I usually would! I’m a big Diet Coke fiend and about a year ago changed over the caffeine free – I sleep so much better since I did! Great post lovely – I love your food and drink related ones ❤️❤️

It actually doesn’t BUT we do have another syrup called ‘violette’ which tastes EXACTLY like parma violets. It’s a little too sweet for me tbh which is why I didn’t include it, i’m still trying to find a decent recipe to include it in! Will keep you updated hehe x

I LOVE that your mocktails look delicious and CUTE at the same time! All of these drinks look amazing – I know I’d be a total sucker for the hibiscus and elderflower fizz. It’s great that you can buy these syrups without breaking the bank. This is great for company events or children’s parties. Thanks for sharing!!!

The Hibiscus and Elderflower one sounds amazing. Lemonade is pretty dull, i prefer cloudy lemonade, wonder if these would work with them too?

    • blacktulipbeauty says:

The syrups make the lemonade not dull haha! I’m not sure if it would tbh but you could always try! X

  8. I love Monin syrups! Back when I was a waitress, we used them in the coffees and I used to drink my body weight in caramel or hazelnut lattes, they just get the tastes so perfect. I have to be honest, I usually HATE floral tastes but you’ve really got me intrigued with the hibiscus flavoured one. I’d definitely love to try that out as sweet alcoholic drinks are really the only alcohol I enjoy drinking! x
