Things have been going a bit mad on the blog recently with brands and events and whatnot which is brilliant but I do miss doing the odd stupid/fun post with Jake. I kindly got sent some goodies from Bomb Cosmetics recently to put in my gift guide for the chronically ill which you can read here. Jake has loved using some of their bath products that I bought for him at Christmas so I thought I’d get him to review the mens gift pack I got sent too and see what he thought of it.
The gift pack is called “A Close Shave Potted Gift Pack” and it includes a shower gel, body butter and shave cream. All of the scents are deeper and aimed much more towards men but I’ve got to say I would use them all too as they smell gorgeous! I’m going to let Jake loose on this post and have him write his thoughts on the products himself so over to him…
“Fresh mint fragrance with pure spearmint and peppermint essential oils”
I LOVE the consistency of this shower gel and how it applied. It’s originally like a jelly in the pot but on scooping it out and lathering between the hands, it becomes really creamy. It felt very luxurious to use and didn’t dry my skin out like a lot of products do. The scent was a strong mint aroma but not overpowering, it’d be a brilliant one to use in the morning to wake you up. Overall, a reviving and refreshing product that I’m looking forward to using again.
“Lemongrass and black pepper fragrance complete with rosemary and black pepper essential oils”
The smell is the first thing I noticed, quite citrusy and fresh due to the lemongrass but also with a bit of edge created by the black pepper. They contrasted really well to create a nice but not too feminine fragrance. How thick the butter was worried me at first but it seemed to sink in really well and didn’t leave an oily residue either which I was pleasantly surprised by. If this product was a pudding, I’d eat it. Yum.
“Healing tea tree and refreshing spearmint essential oils”
This was the most “masculine” smelling product out of the three with a classic minty twist. I’d say it was my favourite scent and reminded me of Autograph products from Marks and Spencer. I followed the websites instructions to use my hands to lather up the cream before applying to my face. The first thing I noticed was the consistency of it, it was creamy and averagely thick like shaving soap as opposed to foam. It provided a good barrier between the razor and my face, allowed a clean cut and close shave and left my skin feeling moisturised with a slight tingling sensation afterwards – I assume this was the essential oils in it!
I think this gift pack is great to give to any man that likes to take care of himself as it’s got something for in the shower, after the shower and you can never go wrong with a nice shave cream. The pots are quite small but they seem to last a long time and I love how they’ve made it a bit different with the Michael Jackson references.
So what did you think of Jakes review!? A big thanks to him for getting involved, what a babe. I think the gift pack is really cute and I love the designs on the little pots. Bomb Cosmetics have quite a few new gift packs including this one, a shower butter set which I’m dying for and a sleepy head bath blaster one that I also featured in my recent post here! Head over to their site to check them out!
