It’s no secret I’ve been suffering recently with my facial skin. One thing I haven’t really mentioned anywhere is that the skin on my body has also flared up too. I’ve suffered with eczema and skin allergies for as long as I can remember but it seems to be very picky with what it’s okay with. When I’m in a bad flare up with my skin, l have to be extremely careful not to aggravate it further with the products I apply. I’ve been eyeing up Hempz for a while as when I had severe eczema flare ups on my hands at a younger age, I used hemp cream a lot for healing purposes. The opportunity to try these products couldn’t have come at a better time for me so a shout out to Alex Silver for kindly gifting me these goodies!
A Little More About Hempz
Hempz are a beauty based company specialising in products that are derived from 100% organic hemp seed oil. Of course the seed oil has the THC taken out aswell as all of their products being cruelty-free, gluten free and paraben free. They offer quite a wide range of products including hair care, bath and body care, speciality products and even tanning, too! Another bonus is that all the products I’ve been sent to try out are in fact vegan friendly.
Hempz Fortifying Leave In Conditioner // £15.99 for 250ml
The majority of leave-in conditioners I’ve tried before have all had pretty much the same scent to them, I wasn’t actually expecting this one to have any scent at all but it’s actually really fruity and gorgeous. The product claims to style, condition, protect and control the hair – but what did I think of it?
I really felt like this added an extra layer of protection for my hair when drying it. I’m not usually one to use appliances on it other than on special occasions so I only really need the protection for using a hairdryer. Although it was a good heat protector, I had to start using some oil alongside it as from years of bleaching, I really do have quite dry hair. I need that extra something to keep it nourished and control the frizz. For that reason, I don’t think I could carry on using this product alone but I think it would be more than suitable for someone with a lot healthier hair than me. I will carry on applying it alongside oil though for that extra protection!
Hempz Lip Balm // £7.99 for 14g
I’m not going to lie, I really wasn’t expecting this to smell/taste so nice (everyone eats a bit of their lip balm, right?). From the colour and look of it, I was assuming it’d be quite an earthy or medicinal aroma but it’s actually as if someone has melted a few jelly babies and put them in a tube. I absolutely adore it for that reason, it’s super sweet and yummy! As for nourishment, I’d definitely say it’s much more of a lip protector than a moisturiser as it does mostly sit on top of the lips rather than sinking in. It does make them feel super soft and adds a lovely shine to them, too. I’d definitely repurchase this for the gorgeous smell if not all the other good things about it!
Hempz Milk & Honey Body Wash // £15.99 for 227ml
First things first, I am besotted with this scent. I’ve tried quite a few milk and honey/almond milk and honey ranges in the hope of finding one perfect for me (e.g. The Body Shop, L’occitane) but until now I’ve never found one that I really truly love. This is the perfect mix of sweet and creamy and I’d happily buy the entire range. I’d love to try the exfoliant whip and see a bath milk in it, too! This has shea butter, avocado and jojoba seed oil in making it nourishing aswell as cleansing. It lathers up an absolute dream in the bath/shower with minimal product but still manages to stay so creamy. It leaves a gorgeous subtle scent on the skin afterwards and this is 100% one I will be repurchasing as it’s so gentle and perfect for my irritated skin, too.
Hempz Milk & Honey Hand & Foot Creme // £7.49 for 100ml
As I said above, the scent is to die for and I’d say it was even more prominent in this product. Aswell as giving the fabulous benefits of hemp seed oil, it contains shea butter and coconut oil which we all know hold incredible moisturising elements for the skin. I’d say the consistency was of a medium thickness which makes a tiny bit go a long way but also means it’s light enough to sink into the skin relatively quickly, too. It makes the skin feel soft and supple almost instantly after sinking in which is one of my favourite things about it. Despite having fragrance added to it, this hasn’t irritated my hands at all which I’m incredibly pleased about.
So, it seems my first experience with Hempz products has been a clear success! I actually don’t think I could pick a favourite as I’ve been using them all pretty much daily since they arrived. This is for sure a brand I would love to try a lot more from. They have a few very intriguing ranges like vanilla plum, pink pomelo and himalayan sea salt and blushing grapefruit and raspberry. But to be fair, everything they have on offer sounds pretty gorgeous and from how beneficial they’ve been for my skin, I’d highly recommend trying any of it.
