As promised, I am starting to upload more makeup posts on here again and it feels good! I’ve recently been working on a makeup project with a company that will hopefully be out in the public eye soon so I can share it with you – it has been pushing me to get my makeup mojo back!
I also started to see lots of people talking about how the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer has been breaking them out badly and although my medication randomly breaks me out anyway, I started to notice that the places on my face I generally used my concealer were worse than elsewhere so I needed to invest in something new to see if this was the case! Here are my thoughts…
I picked this up in the palest shade “Light Porcelain” as it was the more yellow toned out of the palest colours. The first thing I noticed about this foundation was the soft stick applicator, SO UNBELIEVABLY HANDY! You literally just dip the stick in, shove it on your face then dab with a blender. No mess or waste of pumping or squeezing it onto the back of your hand first!
I do find the smell of this foundation quite odd, it’s not a big deal and not odd enough to put me off of it but it definitely doesn’t have that foundation kind of scent that most of them do. On applying it to the face it is quite liquidy so I did wonder how it was going to have the medium to full coverage that everyone has been claiming it does but with a trusty beauty blender it didn’t let me down.
It blends and settles onto the skin so easily and adds a subtle dewy glow. It feels so light and as if you’ve barely got anything on the skin but gives a strong medium coverage making it a great foundation to use every day and one of those products you can trust to be able to use for casual or more important events. I am using this product consistently at the moment and imagine I will be repurchasing, it is brilliant!
I picked this up in the second palest shade “100” as for once I think the palest shade was actually TOO pale for me due to it having a sort of white-ish undertone to it rather than a warm, yellowy colour. The applicator on this concealer is a little sponge on the end of a squeezy tube which again is super easy to apply straight to the face before blending which I love.
Again, the formula is really liquidy like the foundation but it does give a surprisingly good coverage although I wouldn’t say it was quite up there with my Collection one as it doesn’t do that great a job at covering my dark circles. I’d say the concealer gives a bit more of a matte finish than the foundation does too, which creates a bit of an odd base for the foundation to go on to but it works surprisingly well.
I really do like this concealer for everyday casual wear but it isn’t one for when you’re needing full coverage and I found it really isn’t lasting me very well. On my third use I was struggling to get product out of the tube, I’m not entirely sure whether it’s a bit of a fault in the design or whether there just isn’t that much product in it. It is a real shame as after giving my collection concealer a rest, my skin has improved so my skin is telling me I need to replace it but I’m not happy with paying £6.49 for barely any product!
Have you tried either of these Rimmel products or found that the Collection concealer has made your skin worse? Do you have any other full coverage drug store concealers you can recommend?
