Samples of the Month: September!

Samples of the Month: September!

Hey everyone!

So I’m back in boring old England now and it’s time for my monthly “samples of the month” feature today! I almost forgot to do one for this month as I’ve been taking pride in solidly planning my posts recently and I seem to have way more things to write about than I ever actually thought I would so if you see a few extra posts here or there then it’s just because I’ve got so much to write about that I just can’t contain myself from posting more… not a bad thing though, right!? Without further ado, onto the samples!

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Yogurt (Vanilla & Oat) // £6.50 for 200ml

My mum gave me this sample as she got it free from a magazine and I’ve heard it’s meant to be quite good for sensitive/eczema-prone skin which is what I have on my hands. Aveeno are a pretty big brand now so I don’t feel like I need to give them much of an intro, I’ve never personally tried any of their products before so I’m quite excited to see what all the hype is (or isn’t) about!

Okay so this cream is incredible, I’m a sucker for sweet neutral smells like almond, vanilla etc so vanilla and oat is perfect for being nice and noticeable but not too in your face. It is so nourishing, gentle and feels amazing on the skin. The only thing I would say is that if you don’t like heavy creams that still feel like they’re there after a while, this won’t be for you. Because the cream is designed for dry skin, it does feel quite noticeable on the skin for a while after applied. Other than that, this gets a huge yes from me, I WILL be purchasing the full sized product when I need a new body cream.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser // £16 for 50ml

I think The Body Shop are also a big enough company to avoid having an intro! They have this listed on their website as a “Best Seller” and the entire Vitamin C range is designed for dull skin that needs a bit of help in getting a natural, healthy glow back. It contains Vitamin C (duh) which is taken from camu camu berries from the Amazonian Rainforest and also contains soothing aloe vera which I imagine helps give it its lightweight gel consistency and a really lovely cooling effect on the skin.

I thought this moisturiser was absolutely gorgeous. The smell is to DIE for, it’s really orangey but not too strong, just really refreshing. It feels cooling and light as you apply it to the face, I probably wouldn’t recommend it for people who have super dry skin as it isn’t thick enough to intensely hydrate but I would definitely recommend it as a light everyday moisturiser, it would be perfect to take on holiday too. This gets a thumbs up, I would buy the full size product!

Madara SOS Hydra Repar Intensive Serum // €35 for 30ml

I’d never heard of Madara before getting this sample, it came in one of my monthly “You Beauty” boxes as an extra little freebie. Reading up on the brand, they seem to be a very natural brand that pride theirselves on this and their ethics as they’re nut free, gluten free, cruelty free, vegan and organic! This serum is specifically made for dehydrated skin of all ages and contains hyaluronic acid which is great for improving plumpness of the skin and northern peony which is an intense hydrator and claims to have ‘powerful age-defying properties’.

The smell is quite earthy and dry, it sort of reminds me of ryvitas for some reason, I’m assuming the smell is just all the natural substances in the product coming together! It’s actually a lot thicker than I thought it’d be and you only need around 2 pea sizes of it to cover the whole face and make your skin feel like it’s working so the sachet lasted a few uses which was great! It is slightly sticky on first application but dries down nicely after about a minute but I’d definitely say this product is really hydrating and it made my skin feel nice and plump, I can’t speak for the “age-defying” as I haven’t used it for long enough and plus i’m only 21… Personally I wouldn’t buy the full size as my skin is hydrated enough but I’d definitely recommend it for people that need the boost in their skincare routine! Seems like a good winter product.

So some good samples this month, my favourite would definitely have to be the Aveeno! Does anyone have any recommendations from this brand as I’d LOVE to try some more products!? Such a good price too.

’Til next time,
BTB Xx

I love your samples for this month! Especially the Aveeno, they are such a great brand. For me they are a little expensive than the normal moisturizers I use but I’ve seen that you can get them on offers in Boots! They are perfect for sensitive skin, it does leave my skin feeling amazing! Well worth the price.

I never realised how lovely they smelt too! Because they’re for sensitive skin I thought it’d all be unscented and a bit boring but this sample was beauutiful!! X

Yay Alice! My favourite post series that you do is back again! Woohoo! You joke about not needing age defying products but I am only 19 (20 on Saturday) and I use anti-ageing stuff! A woman at a skincare counter once told me that she started using them at 16! 😮

Yay I’m glad you like! 🙂 I will keep doing these posts until my samples run out! I got told once by my skincare expert friend that our skin starts ageing literally as SOON as we hit 20 years old, scary isn’t it!?

I suffer really bad from dry hands, I think it might be excema? I haven’t had a diagnosis from the doctors, because they said they can’t be sure, but I would love to try the Aveeno cream! If it’s as good as people make out, so many people have spoke to me and told me its good, maybe a sample is a good idea!xo

Oh this hand cream! Amazing, I am suffering so badly from eczema on my hands at the moment. For the last month I really suffered, to the point I was totally embarrassed to go to the shop till to purchase things and hand over money. This sounds like a perfect match for me, as my eczema was going away but where the weather is changing now – it’s starting to come back and my skin is becoming super dry. I will have to get myself one of these hand creams!
