So I’m sure if you follow me on ANY of my social medias, you will have seen I have well and truly fallen for a pair of boots. Or should I say two pairs… It’s the second Lazy Oaf x Dr Martens collaboration! I did more than adore the first collaboration but just couldn’t afford them at the time. Not that I can really say I can afford these either honestly but I just could not let them go. I ordered both pairs and was going to send the pink ones back but decided to shoot these outfits first. After seeing the pictures, the tag somehow magically fell off so I COULDN’T send them back. Oh no, what a shame.
I’ve been wanting to do some fashion posts on here for ages and I thought these boots were a great place to start seeing as I want to show them off. I also haven’t been too well over the past week or so and have dropped a few lbs and I’m not going to lie, I’m feeling pretty fabulous (on the outside lol). So here are a few outfits I put together to go with my gorgeous new boots! Hope you enjoy…
Black Lazy Oaf x Dr Martens Boots
Cropped striped top: River Island
My idea for this outfit was for it to be more of a casual one. I’m a sucker for anything tartan and personally I think it’s wearable all year round depending on what you pair it with! I bought these trousers just after Christmas and haven’t worn them a lot as the material is quite thin so they’re much more suitable for spring/summer wear. I love pairing clashing prints with trousers like this aswell. Don’t get me wrong, not all odd prints fit together, I don’t want to look like a TOTAL odd one. I think this little striped number goes really well with the tartan though and the double-soled shoes finish off the edginess of the outfit.
Red Faux Leather Studded Skirt: Pretty Little Thing
I got this mesh top back last year in a River Island sale for about £7 and it’s honestly one my favourite things to wear. I’ve also had a bit of a weird obsession with red faux leather items recently. I think you have to be really careful sometimes though as red faux leather can look quite cheap and tacky if you pick the wrong styled item or wear it with the wrong thing. Black is much more of a safe bet but I feel like red is a lot more sultry and daring which is great! You can also get this skirt in black and pale pink, It’s so pretty and comfy I kind of want all three… I think these boots look great with fishnet tights as it gives a cute but rocker edge to an outfit.
Pink Lazy Oaf x Dr Martens Boots
Pink and green plaid mini skirt: Topshop
I’m not going to lie, if I’d seen myself in this outfit a year ago, I probably would’ve metaphorically vomited. Pink hasn’t been very “me” since I was about 11 years old and my mum picked my clothes but over the past 6 months or so I haven’t been able to stop buying it! (Is the blogging world getting to me?) I even have a pink faux leather jacket. Admittedly I did sew a massive skeleton middle finger onto the back of it to punk it up a bit but still, IT’S PINK! I love the combination of the green and pink on the plaid and I just had to buy this cute slogan tee when I saw it. I’m SO excited to wear this outfit in the Summer although the skirt really is mini so I’ll have to look for some little shorts to wear underneath it if I’m wearing it without tights. Any recommendations of where to get these are welcome.
Black and white striped long sleeve & Printed mom jeans: Monki
I feel like I’m constantly on the Monki site recently. They are KILLING it with their original and odd designs and I’m living for it. These are the most expensive but the most comfy jeans I have ever owned and I have gotten an unbelievable amount of wear out of them already. As a size 12/14 woman who is bottom heavy I was always self-conscious about the fact that mom jeans might accentuate my bigger parts but I actually feel really confident and comfortable in these. You can find a striped top like this anywhere really but I love the soft material of Monkis and how well they wash. I think the pink Lazy Oaf x Dr Martens go so well with more plain outfits like this aswell as more colourful ones. It really spruces them up and adds a pop of colour where you wouldn’t expect it.
Wearing the Lazy Oaf x Dr Martens Boots Odd
Heart cut out mom jeans: Monki
More Monki goodness, these are my favourite jeans in the world. They’re the first pair of blue denim jeans I’ve owned in YEARS and I absolutely love them. I love wearing fishnet tights underneath them just to give the heart cut out parts an added edge to them and so my ankles look cute when I roll them up. They’re a neutral colour so I think they’re perfect to wear with odd shoes and they can easily go from cute as hell to punky by doing so. I also paired them with a black and pink slogan top as I thought the contrast would be a bit more subtle rather than going all out with something super funky or edgy. I’d love to do posts about the more edgy/punky/gothic clothes I have though so that could be a possibility in the near future when I’ve nailed this whole “fashion post” and confidence in posing thing.
Thanks for sticking with me and reading my first proper fashion post, I don’t think it was too much of a disaster? Hopefully the beautiful boots distracted you from any bits that were a bit tragic or my slightly awkward poses. Also, a huge shout out to wonderful Jake for taking these photos for me and only whining a minimal amount. Are you as in L O V E with the Lazy Oaf x Dr Martens boots as I am?
