I feel like I review quite a few things from The Body Shop on here. I absolutely adore their products though and it seems like you all do, too! I’ve reviewed the banana hair care range which you can find here and it’s actually one of my most viewed posts! Since a banana body care range has surfaced this Summer, I just had to give it a go as I’m a complete sucker for banana. Both the taste and the smell of it, I just can’t get enough of. As I have far too many body butters that I do not use, I only wanted to try the yoghurt and shower cream from this range. I already have the mango body yoghurt too so it’ll be interesting to see how they compare.
Like with the Sophdoesnails x Revolution palette I recently reviewed, my lovely boyfriend Jake bought these products for me. I had to give him yet another shout out as I feel like he has been spoiling me recently and i’m all for showing that appreciation. After lusting over this banana range for quite a while, he turned up at my house when I was having a bad day with my health. Banana products in tow aswell as their new “Himalayan Charcoal Facial Soap” (which I am SO excited to try as I love the mask). Aswell as these, he got me the most gorgeous bunch of sunflowers and roses, a box of chocolates from M&S and the cutest card. I am a very lucky lady so thank you Jake for making this post (and a few others…) possible.
A Litte Extra Information About The Range
So, you’ll be happy to know that the entirety of The Body Shop banana range is 100% vegan! It also contains lovely Community Trade organic banana puree sourced from Ecuador. The puree is also said to be made from bananas that don’t pass the industry test, so it helps to reduce waste. Unfortunately for those of you who like the sound of this range, it does state that it’s special edition. It’s a range created for Summer so it probably won’t be on the shelves much longer. Although saying this, if you do adore it, you’ll probably be able to stock up in their end of Summer sale for cheaper if they’re not continuing the range. The packaging is pink and yellow with cute little bananas and sayings on to give it a playful spin.
So, what did I think of the products?
The Body Shop Banana Yogurt // £8.50 for 200ml
The body yogurts are a relatively new addition to The Body Shop’s shelves anyway. Having one released in a brand new range so soon after really must show just how well they’ve been selling! On first impression of opening the pot, I must say I didn’t think this one was going to be for someone with a sensitive nose. It is an incredibly strong scent! Even as someone who adores the smell of banana and this range, it can be a little too much. Saying that, once applied to the skin it does really settle down. The scent is still noticeably there but nowhere near as poignant.
The yogurt also has organic almond milk in which means it melts so gorgeously into the skin and is very quick to dry. There’s no residue left behind, only silky skin. I really adore using the body yogurts on freshly shaved legs too as they moisturise the skin really well without making it feel clogged up. I’d say the scent sticks around for around 4 hours gradually fading which is pretty good for a gel moisturiser. The hydration levels I’d say are light to medium so perfect for every day application. There’s honestly nothing about this product that I dislike! The formula, scent and benefits are perfect for me and my skin.
The Body Shop Banana Shower Cream // £6 for 250ml
This is probably the thickest shower cream I’ve ever tried from The Body Shop! They sell a few others all year round like the Shea and Coconut but neither are as creamy as this. I’d say it’s more similar in texture to the shower cream in the Halloween range they produced in 2017, “Vanilla Pumpkin”. Vanilla Pumpkin was also incredibly gorgeous and I REALLY hope it makes a re-appearance this year! Anyway, the shower cream is very softening, easy to lather and strong in its scent. It also leaves as much of a scent behind in the bathroom as the haircare products do, which I was pleased about.
Although the scent of the actual product is strong, I wouldn’t say it left that much of it behind on the skin. It’s noticeable but only slightly and for a short while. That is something I would change about the product as I would love for it to leave more of a scent for the days I don’t fancy applying the yogurt, too. Other than that it’s a gorgeous product to use in the shower and you can also use The Body Shops shower gels and creams as bath foams so I will definitely be trying that with it soon.
Overall, I am completely in love with The Body Shop banana range. From the body care to the hair care, I love it ALL. I would happily use all of these products day in day out but unfortunately they’re a little pricey for me to buy consistently. They are however, an incredible treat for yourself and your skin/hair.
