I luckily got chosen to receive the Halloween voxbox for free from Influenster containing Rita Ora’s ‘Shades of Black’ Rimmel products and seeing as Halloween is creeping up on us I thought I’d do a review of the products I received in the box and try and create some vampy looks with them as I haven’t put a lot of makeup on the blog recently!
For anyone that doesn’t know, Influenster is a community site where you can make an account and review products to help other people decide whether to buy them or not, it covers everything from food to beauty to stationery and depending on what kind of products and how much you review will determine your likelihood of receiving a box and what sorts of products will be in it. Of course there are Ts&Cs that come with receiving products but they’re easy to understand and follow. You can find out more by heading over to their website or downloading the app!
Anyway, onto my thoughts about the products!
The glossy finish is definitely good for halloween looks as it’s a bit different and gives more of a shiny and sticky look but for day to day wear, the finish is not something I would personally wear ALL the time.
I really like the wand on this mascara although it isn’t that similar to my trusty old Lash Sensational, I would rather it was a little curved though just so it’d get into the corners of the lashes a bit easier to make it quicker to use. I also love the fact you don’t have to use a lot of product or many layers to get quite an effective look meaning I think it’ll last quite a long time!
It doesn’t flake or smudge but also wipes off easily with a makeup wipe. I’m really impressed with this mascara personally and would buy it myself.
They all give a really nice finish and are pretty long wearing, I’ve had ones where they chip within a few hours before and these seem to last pretty well for at least a few days, the matte black is the least long-wearing out of the three though. I was also pleasantly surprised because they dry really quickly creating minimal smudging which is great for clumsy me. The only thing I would say is that the application brush is a bit wide for my liking, it’d be no good for people with thin nails and you can’t get down into the corners without getting it onto your skin which just causes a bit of a faff of cleaning them up after.
Have you received a voxbox before? What are your must have products for halloween looks?
