Firstly, if you’re wondering, yes the title is a spin on a White Chicks quote… International Womens Day AND Mothers Day in one week – a fabulous excuse to celebrate the brave, kind, strong and powerful ladies in our lives! Not that we ever really need an excuse, do we? I was brainstorming ideas of a post I could write to celebrate the occasion. As much of a passionate feminist I am, I don’t think I’m quite ready to unleash the fireball that is Alice on a feminist rant onto the blog yet.
With it being Mothers Day and my mum being my absolute best friend, I thought it would be a nice idea to give her some public appreciation. I found a few cute Mothers Day questions on google and thought I’d answer them about her and our relationship! Hope you enjoy…
She always tells me to wake up every morning and list 3 things I’m grateful for.
Me, food, wine, Nacho when she’s being quiet/cute, gardening, a clean house, mini eggs and of course holidays!
Knowing when something is wrong and cheering me up. Cooking, her job, finding bargain holidays and clothes, supporting us all and so much more.
Lots of things! She’s always worked so hard to give me and Nick all that she can. She always tries her best to stay motivated, keep going and planning things to look forward to whatever happens in life. I’m proud that we have such an amazing and unique bond too and it only gets stronger as I get older.
I love the obviously fun things like going out for food and having girly shopping days and spa days etc but I also love just popping to Aldi or Marks and Spencers for a wander or chilling out in the conservatory. She makes everything fun.
We have the same sense of humour and laugh, we have similar hygiene obsessions (but I’m not quite as extreme, haha). We both love holidays and travelling and of course we share a major love of food. We also steal eachothers clothes from time to time…
Our taste in a lot of things is quite different, I’d say I’m more quirky but she’s more generally fashionable. She always says I’m a lot more “well behaved” than her, haha! She is also a lot more sociable than I am.
She tells me and shows me every day. She comes to all my hospital appointments with me and always stands up for me. She helps me out in any situation that I need her to and puts my happiness first.
Probably that there is always something to be grateful for and that having money doesn’t mean you have happiness. 🙂
My brother is kindly taking us to Browns for a meal! I’m super excited. And I’m going to take her for Afternoon Tea sometime soon too! Gifts where you can spend time together are better in my opinion.
How will you be showing appreciation for your mum today?
